We had an amazing diving experience at Dave’s! As novice divers, our guide Zach prepped us well and was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and patient. We did a shore dive and saw octopus, crayfish, red cod, poua and a myriad of other fish. I was fascinated by the giant kelp trees. We had to rebook our dive due to weather and the dive shop made that a stress and hassle free process. We never felt rushed or stressed. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely dive through them again if we ever find ourselves in Kaikoura again!
We ran into some challenges during our dive, but we mastered them fast and it was a lot of fun! Great and friendly team, up to date equipment and a very good attitude all around. Will definitely return for another few dives when I’m back in New Zealand :)
Best decision to kick start 2023 like this! I had my first dive in NZ after my Open Water Certification in Thailand. We did 2 dives in the morning from the boat and found Crayfish (unfortunately they are just a little bit undersize so we free them) and Kina (eat it right away it is creamy and sweet!) on Peter's Cove and Sharks' Teeth! Sean, my Instructor and Buddy, was so patience and helpful when I was in the nervous state at the start. It is such a lovely morning our little group of 6 had coffee on the boat and after the dive together :)
Ace team at Dave’s - we did a couple of boat dives with Sean and Zach and couldn’t recommend more! They were very accommodating, the gear is solid, they know the area really well and we got to see seals above and in the water which was the cherry on top
Management summary: great team, very professional, VERY caring Detailed review: As kind of experienced divers (85+ dives) we have some expectations regarding the guides and stuff. they handle the Organisational stuff nice, easy, flexible. Don‘t be afraid that they will rip you off when there is bad weather/no visibility. Decision are even taking as a group e.g doing only one dive when visibility is too bad. Equipment is up to standard (comparing with other tours in very good condition). You’ll have a safety briefing beforehand (Zach was doing it great, ask him about crayfish tours or Wildlife in general - great guy) and a diving briefing before hopping in (we had 3 dives with Sean (not Connery haha).
